Some players and parents may wonder what the pathway forward is in terms of development, especially as he or she gets older. Cricket Victoria has divided the state into 16 regions; the MJCA is represented by Western Region, known as the Western Spirit. This is managed by Dr. Ken Davis and can be accessed on www.westspirit.cricketvictoria.com.au. The Western Spirit have a healthy relationship with the Footscray-Edgewater Cricket Club[District Cricket] and are also in the final stages of developing a dedicated Cricket Academy within the Western Suburbs to foster and improve the best talent within this region. The MJCA is now certainly within that radar map, as we send players to the Bolters[Under 15's] and the Dowling Shield [Under 16's]. As well the Commonwealth Bank sponsor the Pathways for the Victorian Cricket Association and a clear picture can be seen from the site www.cricketvictoria.com.au/page/comm_bank_pathway.html Finally the MJCA are within the Victoria Metropolitan Cricket Union[VMCU] and we send representative teams each January in the Mitchell Shield[Under 12's] and the Beitzel Shield [Under 16's]. The Under 14's are currently aligned with the Melton Cricket Club[Sub-District] and are represented in the Hatch Shield although this may change into a regional concept. The only "grey area" for the moment is the Darley Cricket Club, who , although play within the MJCA are demographically aligned to the Central Highlands Region which is based around Ballarat.
